Emilie Lilja: “Jeg havde svært ved at definere mig selv som ‘gravid'”

Emilie Lilja: "I had difficulty defining myself as 'pregnant'"

When influencer and creative consultant Emilie Lilja became pregnant with her boyfriend, it immediately felt right, even though they had only been together for a year. Here she talks about the emotional contrasts she has experienced during pregnancy with her first child. About getting comfortable in your new body and coming to terms with the fact that reality doesn't always match expectations

How did you find out you were pregnant?

"I had quite a lot of air in my stomach one day when I was going to the steakhouse with some of my girlfriends. When I told them, my friend Frederikke replied: "You're probably pregnant." That thought had never crossed my mind, because I didn't know it could be a sign of pregnancy. I seriously lay with my jacket over my legs the whole movie and felt so uncomfortable in my stomach.
Two days later I woke up and my breasts were sore. I took a test, took a shower and thought nothing more of it. Sometimes you have taken those "what if" tests, and they have always been negative. So I thought this one probably was too. Suddenly there was one clear and one faint line.

I sent, in caps lock, a text message to my friend: GOOD MORNING. HELP - WHAT IS THIS? IS IT A POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE TEST WHEN IT IS NOT SO CLEAR IN ONE AND VERY CLEAR IN THE OTHER

She replied: “You are pregnant. Very pregnant.”
