Have your beauty routines changed during pregnancy?

I treat my skin as a self-care thing, but unfortunately not as part of a daily routine. Many of the creams I have are from Naturpoteket, and I’ve been unsure if they contain essential oils. So, I’ve replaced them with fragrance-free face cream from Cerave, which I sometimes dab on my face in the morning. I’ve always had pretty good skin, and pregnancy has given me an extra glow. Before I got pregnant, I could see that it might be time for me to start a daily routine. For my body, I really like oils from Urtegaarden. And occasionally, I’ve thrown caution to the wind and used a salt scrub with essential oils from Karmameju when I’ve wanted a bit of a spa vibe in the bath. I’ve used baths to feel grounded. After such a bath, Honey's products have been invaluable. I never use perfume, but a scented oil from Helsekosten, but I’ve also skipped that during pregnancy.”

How do you feel about your pregnant body?

“I quickly felt very pregnant, and I feared that I would get pelvic girdle pain and all sorts of other bodily discomforts. But I’ve just been nice. I’m also at a stage where I don’t focus so much on my body. I actually think I look pretty good. During my last pregnancy, I ran around in small, smart, tight dresses and went out in high heels, and I thought it was SO cool to be pregnant and show off my belly. I’ve hardly done that this pregnancy. My phone is almost empty of pictures of pregnant me posing.”

Do you exercise during your pregnancy?

“Before I got pregnant, I had just started an advanced Jazz dance class at Stepz, and it was completely out of my comfort zone. However, after the 4th month of pregnancy, I had to stop because it became too demanding. It was fun to start something I was really bad at and then experience that I actually got better because I kept at it. After I stopped dancing, I started yoga once a week at Yoga ved Søerne. It’s not prenatal yoga, but still a very gentle form of yoga.”

What considerations have you made regarding diet and supplements during your pregnancy?

I’ve taken the recommended supplements, but instead of taking iron, I’ve drunk Krauterblaut because iron gave me such hard stools during my previous pregnancy.

My only craving has been a bun with cheese and a coffee in the morning. And I’ve had that too. I didn't drink coffee at all during my first pregnancy, but coffee has given me a good flow and been good for digestion. I don’t need to carry that craving into postpartum, however. You can really spend a fortune on buns and coffee.
