Guide: When winter turns to spring

Guide: Når vinter bliver til forår

Learn how small changes in the amount of your products keep your skin soft, supple, and protected as the sun begins to peek through.

How to adjust your skincare dosage as winter turns to spring

As winter turns to spring, it can be a good idea to adjust the dosage of your skincare rather than switching out your products. During the winter months, skin often needs more nourishment and protection because cold, wind, and fluctuating temperatures can make it drier, redder, and tighter. This is partly because skin typically produces less of its natural oil, sebum, in cold weather. Sebum helps retain moisture and also acts as a protective barrier on the skin's surface.

When the temperature rises and humidity changes, many people therefore find that their skin no longer needs quite the same amount of oil and care as during the winter. Instead of changing products, you can often simply adjust the amount.

Less product - same routine

In practice, this often means that you can use a lighter dosage in spring. Perhaps one pump of serum is enough instead of two, or a thinner layer of cream than in the winter months. The routine itself can easily remain the same, but in a lighter version that suits the season. As the sun begins to get stronger, it's also a good idea to add sun protection to your morning routine.

In short, the transition from winter to spring is less about replacing your skincare and more about adapting the dosage so that your skin gets exactly the moisture and nourishment it needs as the weather and season change.

Three tips for your spring dosage

Reduce the amount slightly
If you used two pumps of serum or a generous layer of cream in winter, you can often get by with a little less in spring. Your skin typically doesn't need the same amount of oil when temperature and humidity rise.

Listen to your skin day by day
Your skin's needs can vary greatly during transitional periods. Some days your skin still feels dry, other days more balanced. Adjust the amount of serum and cream according to how your skin feels.

Remember sun protection
When the sun gets stronger, it's a good idea to add SPF to your morning routine, even if the rest of your routine remains the same.
